2006 Burton Award for Legal Achievement

Jennifer Siverts, 2005-2006 Chief Notes Editor, was one of only 15 law students across the nation selected to receive the 2006 Burton Award for Legal Achievement.  Each law student nominee was judged on a published law review note.  Siverts won for her article Punishing Thoughts Too Close to Reality: A new Solution to Protect Children from Pedophiles, published in Volume 27.2 of Thomas Jefferson Law Review.

The Burton Foundation is a volunteer, not-for-profit, academic organization concentrating on legal writing.  The awards program is dedicated principally to rewarding effective legal writing.  The program honors partners in law firms and law students who use plain, clear and concise language and avoid archaic, stilted legalese.
